Colmar to Freiburg by Train

Can you tell me if there is a bus or local train that would get me from Colmar to Freiburg Breisgau, Germany, in a timely fashion (one or two hours)on a Saturday in June?

Colmar to Freiburg Germany

Hi John,

Colmar isn't a very big place so you'll have to take the train from Colmar to Mulhouse to connect with another train going to Freiburg.

Colmar connects mainly with trains going north and south. Mulhouse does as well, but it also connects with trains going east and west.

Just for your information Strasbourg also connects with train lines running north and south or east and west.

It's those darn Vosges mountains that get in the way for Colmar. That and it's just not as big as Strasbourg and Mulhouse.

Because Freiburg is more in line with Mulhouse, it's best to go to Mulhouse and then to Freiburg. It will take about an hour and a half. Although it depends if you have an express train or one that stops at every mid sized town along the way.

I love Freiburg and go there from time to time. Really interesting history, unfortunately the more interesting stories are only in German. Good thing I know German : )
