Kieffer family in Alsace

by Katherine Kieffer
(Miami, Fl )

I was in Alsace (Strasburg) visiting my ancestors land. My great grandfather's name was Aloise Kieffer.

He left Alsace in the 1890s to immigrate to South America (specifically Lima , Peru ). I would like to know if I have family there. He was born in Saverne, Alsace.

Peru
by: Suzele

Hi Katherine,

I can't really help you with anything in Peru. Maybe someone on the site will know something about doing genealogy research in South America (and Peru specifically).

Genealogical research here in Alsace is no problem, if you're interested. I can only do it in the first part of the year when I'm not so busy with tours : )

Good luck with your research,
Suzele

Looking for Leopold Francis DeCapot, my grandfather
by: Diane Anderson

My grandfather was born in "Alsace-Lorraine, Germany in May 1874.

I never met him. I'd love to find his birth certificate. He was also known as Leon Kaplan. He immigrated to the United States on the steamship British Prince which left Liverpool, England and landed in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, not sure what year.

His father was Joseph DeCapot and his mother was Mary Campbell. Any records would be greatly appreciated.

Also looking for more info my Kiefer relatives
by: Rachel Parsons

Hi there!

I am also trying to find info on my Kiefer living relatives. My great-great mother's name was Marie Thérèse Kiefer and her parents were named François Joseph Kieffer and Rosine Kieffer. Marie and her family came from Walheim, Haut-Rhin, France. Walheim IS roughly an hour South of Alsace. Marie Thérèse and her parents immigrated to the U.S. sometime during the 1870's. They ended up settling in Alabama and are all buried there.
