Hi,

I am from America and my name is Betty. I am researching my family who came from Forbach, France, Alsace-Champagne-Ardenne-Lorraine and Boult-Sur-Snippe, France,Champagne.

My 2nd great-grandparents, Louis Dagobert & Zena Marie (Dumain) Scherer. My family never told us much except they fled France during the war and they were very well off, but gave it all up to come to America.

I would love any information on their families. Louis's father was also, Louis Dagobert Scherer married to an unknown. His father was General Louis Dagobert Scherer born 06 Mar 1771 in Sierentz, Haut-Rhin, Alsace, France. He died 08 Feb 1844 in Ingersheim, Alsace, France - Lorraine.

He was married to Madeleine Haas Mar 1799 - 11 Jul 1882 Ingersheim, Alsace, France - Lorraine. His father I believe was Antoine Scherer b. 1744 in Bas-Rhin, France - Alsace Lorraine and died 31 Jan 1811 in Ettendorf, France - Alsace Lorraine.

He was married to Catherine Bienz, b. 20 Oct 1746 Ettendorf, France - Alsace Lorraine, d. 14 Jan 1826 in Ettendorf, France - Alsace Lorraine.

Antoine's father was Jean Scherer, b Abt. 1700 in Ettendorf, France - Alsace Lorraine and d. Abt 1778 in Ettendorf, France - Alsace Lorraine.

Any help on this family would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Betty,

You've got a lot of info there which is great and will be very helpful to find out more...but I'm not sure what sort of info you are looking for exactly.

And one other little thing...it's a pet peeve of mine ; )
It's Alsace.
Not Alsace-Lorraine.
Alsace Lorraine didn't exist until 1871 and fortunately it doesn't exist anymore haha...

And you can also ignore the new region merging that France did recently...no one over here acknowledges it. All the regions are still referred to by their original names.
