My great great grandfather Leon

Hi! I've been doing some research for my 90 year old grandmother. She's been wanting to find out about her grandfather. His name is Leon Eugene Spitz. He was born in Paris France. We don't know his exact birth year but we do know he was born between 1870 and 1875. My grandmother was always told that he resided in Alsace Lorraine before coming to the United States. Leon's parents were Leon Spitz and Fanny Gabillot. Any idea where to look online to learn more about them? My grandmother is already on Ancestry.com and didnt find very much information on our French relatives. If you know where to look, please let me know. We would love to learn more about Leon.
