Schwei(t)zer (Peter)

I’m interested in finding anything to point me in some sort of direction. My great-great grandfather Peter Schwei(t)zer was born around 1800 in Strasbourg. He and his wife Caroline (born around 1810) left for America in 1855 with two children; Edward (born 1843) and Hannah (Anna) born 1848.

Peter returned to Alsace Lorraine (Strasbourg) after 1870 and was died there (no records)
