Spring or Summer Travel?

First of all, this is an absolute fantastic resource. I've planned two backpacking trips to Europe and I absolutely enjoy your perspective and ability to share your passions.

My wife and I are planning a trip in 2016. It's been a dream of mine to visit the region. We live in upstate NY and are very familiar with the Finger Lake Region.

In addition, I'm a home wine maker (purchase juice from local wineries). Anyways, I was wondering how spring vs summer travel is within the region. I plan on booking a wine tour through you and will have additional follow up questions as I begin my research!

Thank you!

Spring or Summer
by: Suzele

Hi Adam,

The early spring gives you the advantage of better rates and fewer mobs of people. I would say that the weather could be a disadvantage, but usually it's a bit fresh, but sunny and nice.

I personally love the weather in early spring. And the cherry trees are in bloom! It's gorgeous.

Late spring has the advantage of cooler temperatures...maybe, because it could be hot too.
But the disadvantage of being the high season.

And of course summer is usually quite nice and warm. And it's the high season.

The late spring and summer is in full bloom as well and Alsace is a very colorful and flowery place in 9 out of 12 months : )

So I can't tell you which season is the best. But hopefully that will give you enough info to make an educated decision.

Looking forward to seeing you next year,
Suzele
